Hell on Earth
One of the most haunting and impactful things I have ever heard in my life was; "Hell on earth is the moment you meet the man you could have been."
There is an accountability for how you spent your time in that thought. A true up of all your macro and micro choices. A reflection only you can see.
I sit with that thought a little bit each day. In the hopes that when we finally meet, we will recognize each other.
It reminds me to constantly keep a clear a vision of who I am and who I want to be. What is important? What brings me peace? Who will be my legacy?
It reminds me to make peace with my past. I cannot change those things, but I can learn from them and use them as fuel to be better.
It reminds me to act. To become better takes effort, risk, and consistency. It is uncomfortable. It is vulnerable.
It reminds me to be brave in the finitude of time.
It reminds me to touch and inspire that potential in others.
How will you feel when you come face to face with the person you could have been? If that answer is as uncomfortable for you as it was for me. I invite you to use this day to take a small step to be that person you know you are capable of being.
